Daily Flight: frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions players ask most. If yours is not here, email gandhiashish1997@gmail.com.

The basics

What is Daily Flight?

Daily Flight is a free browser game where you fly a paper plane through a line of pencils, pens and rulers using one button. Every day there is one new course that is identical for every player in the world, you get three attempts at it, and scores are compared on a global leaderboard. Think of it as a Wordle-style daily challenge built on a flappy-style arcade game.

Is Daily Flight free?

Yes, completely. There is nothing to buy. The game is supported by optional ads: watching a short ad can unlock one bonus daily attempt or revive you after a crash in Free Flight, and a small banner may appear on the web version.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Daily Flight runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Go to daily-flight.com and tap Start Flying.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play every mode as a guest under an auto-assigned pilot name, and your scores still count on the leaderboard. Signing in with Google is optional; it lets you pick a username, add friends, and keeps your scores and day streak across devices.

What are the controls?

Tap the screen, click, or press the space bar to flap upward. The plane falls when you do nothing. That is the only input in the game. The how to play guide covers scoring and everything else.

Which devices and browsers work?

Any recent version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge or Samsung Internet on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, ChromeOS or Linux. The game is sized for a portrait phone screen and centres itself on larger displays.

The daily course

When does the daily course reset?

At midnight US Eastern Time (ET), every day. The home screen shows a live countdown. One fixed time zone keeps "today" the same day for everyone, which is what makes the leaderboard fair.

How many attempts do I get?

Three attempts at the daily course, plus one bonus attempt by watching a short ad. Only your best attempt counts. A best score set on the bonus attempt is marked 📺 on the leaderboard, so the board always shows which scores used the extra try. Nothing is for sale.

Does everyone really get the same course?

Yes. The obstacle layout and the Easy, Medium or Hard rating are generated from the date itself, so every player in the world flies the same line of pencils that day. More on how the daily challenge works.

What do Easy, Medium and Hard mean?

The day's rating changes obstacle speed and spacing and raises the number of pencils needed for each Class (1.3×, 1.6× and 2× respectively). The rating is shown on the home screen before you fly.

I missed a day. Can I play yesterday's course?

No. Each course is live for 24 hours and then gone for good. Free Flight is always available for practice.

How do streaks work?

Fly the daily course on consecutive days to build a day streak. One attempt a day is enough, whatever the score. The streak screen shows a week or month calendar with every day you flew lit up. Days follow the course calendar (midnight US Eastern), the same clock as the daily reset. Every 7th day in a row earns a Spare Wing (shown as a 📝 sick note), you can earn one by watching a short ad on the streak screen, and you earn one when a friend flies your shared link for their first time (one a day). You hold at most two. Miss exactly one day and the next flight uses a Spare Wing automatically, so the streak carries on; miss two days and it resets. When you sign in with Google your streak is saved to your account and follows you to any device; as a guest it lives on the device and browser you fly on, so signing in is what protects it.

Scores, classes and leaderboards

How is the score calculated?

One point for every obstacle you pass, plus two points for every star you collect. Close calls are counted on your report card but are not worth points.

What are Classes and what does Graduate mean?

A progression ladder based only on pencils passed in a single run: Class 1 to Class 12, then Graduate. In Free Flight you Graduate at 448 pencils; on the daily course the thresholds are scaled by the day's difficulty. The full table is on the how to play page.

Why is my score not on the leaderboard?

Scores post automatically after each run, for guests and signed-in players alike. If yours is missing, the run usually ended while the game was offline; play again with a connection. Signing in with Google from the results screen keeps your scores and day streak if you switch devices or clear your browser. As a guest, clearing site data starts a new guest identity, so the streak cannot be recovered.

What is the difference between the Today and All-time boards?

Today ranks best scores on the current daily course. All-time ranks best Free Flight scores ever. Both can be filtered to Global or Friends.

Friends and multiplayer

How do I play with a friend?

Open the Friend tab, tap Create a room, and share the 5-character code or the invite link. Your friend joins, both of you tap Ready, and you fly the identical course live. The last plane flying wins the round. Full guide.

How do I add friends to the friends leaderboard?

Every player, guests included, has a 6-character friend code under Friends in Settings. Share yours; a friend enters it in the Add a friend box and you appear on each other's Friends filter.

Can more than two people race at once?

Friend rooms are for two players. For a bigger group, everyone flies the daily course and compares on the Friends leaderboard, which is the same course for all of you anyway.

Installing and notifications

Can I install Daily Flight on my phone?

Yes. It is a progressive web app. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and choose Install app or Add to Home screen from the menu. It then opens full screen like a native app. An Android build of the same game also exists.

Can it remind me to fly?

Yes. Turn on push notifications under Sound & Alerts in Settings to get a nudge before the course resets. You can turn them off in the same place.

Why is there no sound?

Music and sound effects can be toggled in Settings. Some browsers also mute pages until you interact with them; one tap on the game usually fixes it.

Privacy and ads

What data does Daily Flight collect?

As a guest, the game stores an anonymous identity with an auto-assigned name, a friend code and your scores, so leaderboards and friends work; no name, email or photo is attached. If you sign in with Google we also store your display name, chosen country and profile photo. If something breaks, the game sends an error report (the error, the page and your browser version) that is not linked to you. The full privacy policy has the details and how to request deletion.

How do ads work?

Ads are optional and rewarded: you choose to watch one for a bonus daily attempt or a Free Flight revive. The web version may also show a small banner. You can review your privacy choices from the link at the bottom of the game's About panel.
